We had fun!  It rained a bit at the end, but then we just had a water slide!  Yeah!  LOL

My hubby turned 41 just 8 days after me! It’s tough being an older woman. LOL Even if by 8 days! He doesn’t let me live it down!

My son, Stephen, is out of the hospital and home – he’s on Lithium and I’m not at ALL happy about it. To be quite honest I would like to take him off of it all! He’s got tremors so badly and now headaches. I’m calling the doc tomorrow. This is not acceptable! His mood is good… he’s happy to be home!

My son, James, is driving! He got his license and the insurance wasn’t all that bad! So…. I don’t see him much! hee hee – oh to be young again!

My daughter, Jessica, came over this weekend… ahhhhh… I love having my baby girl around – although she’ll be 20 on March 21st! ARGH! She’s getting older… not me!

My son, Daniel J, is going through some struggles right now. He’ll be okay… in time. Seems some restrictions at home are getting to him… you know, regular teen stuff! Rules at one house, rules at another.

I am doing wonderfully actually.  Just juggling all of the life that comes at me.  Work is wonderful – the folks I work with are absolutely awesome.  Seriously I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with.  Kudos to my wonderful employer!

I’m so tired though… so so tired. Time for a weekend out! Somewhere!

Wonderful Jean-Luc is having his birthday on Wednesday so his Weekend Question is about birthdays.

I do have a memorable birthday for sure.  I could have choked my beautiful friends for this one.

On my 21st birthday I was 1 month away from giving birth to my first baby – Jessica.  Normally your 21st birthday is one to celebrate here in the states because it’s the legal drinking age.  I think it was obvious drinking was not on my mind given the baby bump I had:

But alas, the gals thought it would be a *hoot* to take preganant Monica out to a male strip club.  I kid you not.

There I was – front row watching the guys and boy did they think it was fun to strip in front of the pregnant young lass.

Oh.  My.  Gawd.

The music was so loud that my baby was jumping – convulsing more than likely – to every beat.

All I wanted was to go home.

But, makes for a good story 20 years later.

I did tell my daughter that one and she was quite happy she can honestly say she’s been at a male strip club.  Albiet not quite born yet.

Oh what where those girls thinkin!

Ahhhh…. youth.

Yes, we have alot of last names in the house.  Two are Nichols, two are Ford and two are Sharp.  Hey, I haven’t exactly changed my last name yet.  I will though… don’t you fret!

Now, on to the fun at the house!

First, my three kids thought it would be great to take a photo for me and I was so excited to get it!  They used my camera and a tri-pod and even got Indy to look at the camera by throwing something in the direction of the tri-pod!  LOL  They did great!

Missing is my step-son, he wasn’t there that day.  So they are going to take more photos with the blonde child (my only blonde kid – my step-son)!

That night we had a major blast playing Cherades (hm, spelled right?) and that was beyond halarious.

Tonight, Ice Cream social.  I know it’s cold, but who could turn down ice cream?!

OH!  I bought a new phone!  The Google Android G1 thingy!  I was a BlackBerry die hard for 3 years, and just went to the T-Mobile G1.  GREAT so far!

I’m gonna get back on after the ice cream and answe comments ’cause I just love you all so!

This is day 1 of my week of posts of “What I’m Most Thankful For”.

Day 1 – My Daughter Jessica

While growing up, there was no way in the world I wanted kids. I cannot say I was one of those teen girls that fantasized about getting married to my soul mate and having babies. For me, that was the furthest from my mind. I didn’t want, or need a man. OR anyone for that matter. I was a very angry teen, who wanted to be alone. I wanted a career in the Air Force. Period.

At 20 I was told promptly by a Planned Parenthood employee that my pregnancy test was positive. That was 1988. I figured that solved the mystery of why I felt ill and bloated. I was 6 weeks pregnant with Jessica.

My baby girl, Jessie, was born 3/21/1989 and didn’t utter a sound. The doctor and nurses all became quite hushed. Afterall, babies usually cry as they let the air into their lungs. Not my girl, she refused to make a scene and simply stared directly at me. No lie. It was an uncomfortable silence for a new mother.

I’ve learned silence is golden throughout her rough teen times. She is my daughter, very very very independent and full of life. I never ever – not even once – regreted keeping my baby girl. I was a single mother when she was born and knew I’d be just fine raising her all by myself. I even told the father he could just “fade away” for all I cared.

Yes, remember…. I was an angry person and didn’t care much about anyone back then. EXCEPT – Jessica. Her birth changed me forever.

Headstrong runs through the Nichols’ women. I come from a long line of women who take care of their kids. Alone at times. She certainly got the “headstrong” portion and that played a role in a very turbulent teen time for her. We did make it out alive!

She’s beautiful, happy and healthy. She lives with her boyfriend and works and goes to college now. I miss my little girl and love her and thank her for showing me I can be a beautiful, loving, caring person. She was my salvation.

Day 1 – My daughter.

My youngest, Daniel J, just turned 13 on Friday the 11th!  WHooooot!

This means, for one year – I have 4 teenagers.  LOL 

Daniel J – 13 Years Young (this past Friday)

Stephen – 16 Years Young (in June ‘08)

James – 18 Years Young (in December ‘08)

Jessica – 19 Years Young (In March ‘08)

Next year Jess will be a 20 something, so 2008 leaves us the only year where all my babies are teens….
