Feeling Better – Update on Monica

Well let us see how last night went shall we?

I was trying to get this blog in some kinda order after changing hosts. I have a temporary Wordpress Theme up, but I like how it’s situated. Just not the colors or lack thereof. But, when I went to have fun and change stuff around the most HUGEST (is that a word?) headache hit like a ton of bricks. Oh my goodness. Then, it was so bad I felt sick. So, off the computer I went and straight to bed.

Then, the hubby comes home – bless his heart. Dotting all over me and taking care of me like the wonderful hubby he is. We watched Ghost Whisperer Season Two Disc Two – one or two episodes and I was done. I had a pounding headache and felt like crud.

Then, we got into an argument. A new one? No… more of the same thing. It didn’t end well so this morning I got on the phone and told him I was sorry. Lordy. Lordy. Being married means so many things, but one thing it means is ya can’t get away from them. LOL So you better make up.

Making up is fun actually. He’s been so wonderful lately, I guess feeling sick mixed with other stuff just set me off. No bigge – we *kissed* and made up so to speak.

It’s been rough here. He’s working so hard and my client base has dwindled due to so many things. So I’m barely making it financially. Which means, he’s doing all the work. I’m at home taking care of the house, making sure my kids get all their school stuff done, and working on the clients I have left – ’cause I love them and am very grateful to have them.

My kids are both in Independent Study now. It’s like homeschooling really. I have their schedule every day of what they need to do, I meet with their teacher once a week to get more work for them and turn in their assignments (rather, they do that – I take notes). BUT their report cards came in! WOW! It’s the biggest improvement I’ve ever seen from them. They are so proud! So is this momma.

So my husband is working away while I’m doing all of these things that are important – but, what happened to me holding my own financially? I was the sole supporter for over 10 years now I’m home? It’s a huge adjustment.

physics-1

I’m starting school on the 20th of this month. I’m almost embarassed to say what for ’cause I’ve been laughed at a few times. But I’ll say it here – and let me be very clear this is what I had wanted since I was young, but babies etc. well… you know what happens to plans when you have the little ones. ;) Okay, my major is Physics. Yes, laugh all ya want. Who knows I could change my mind. I’m already an Accountant, this would be a complete career change that will take YEARS to get to. But there are some really neat opportunities just in the first year of being an undergraduate! No laughing… okay, you can laugh. We’ll see how far this goes, but at least I can go for it!

physics

In February I’ll be 41 years old/young. I’m so extremely excited about my 40s! It’s me time after my Stephen is graduated in June of 2010. That’s not that far away. Jimmy goes into the USMC on June 14th, and my daughter is already out and on her own. I do have my Step Son Daniel that will be 14 (OMG!) on the 11th of this month, but his momma does all the hard work with him. I just get to love him to death when we get him. So I’m almost done… wow.

Many things are going on now in my life – I just want to be sure I enjoy ever moment of it you know?

Wow, life is Grand!

Fun at the Nichols, Ford, and Sharp Home

Yes, we have alot of last names in the house.  Two are Nichols, two are Ford and two are Sharp.  Hey, I haven’t exactly changed my last name yet.  I will though… don’t you fret!

Now, on to the fun at the house!

First, my three kids thought it would be great to take a photo for me and I was so excited to get it!  They used my camera and a tri-pod and even got Indy to look at the camera by throwing something in the direction of the tri-pod!  LOL  They did great!

My babies.

Missing is my step-son, he wasn’t there that day.  So they are going to take more photos with the blonde child (my only blonde kid – my step-son)!

That night we had a major blast playing Cherades (hm, spelled right?) and that was beyond halarious.

Tonight, Ice Cream social.  I know it’s cold, but who could turn down ice cream?!

OH!  I bought a new phone!  The Google Android G1 thingy!  I was a BlackBerry die hard for 3 years, and just went to the T-Mobile G1.  GREAT so far!

I’m gonna get back on after the ice cream and answe comments ’cause I just love you all so!

Flowers, Tattoos and Dogs

What a mix!

This weekend I had my daughter and her boyfriend come to visit.  They brought Tattoos.  They just got them done!

Here’s Joseph’s tattoo (it’s his last name)

My darling 19 year old daughter was told getting a tattoo wouldn’t really hurt on the top of your foot.  She begs to differ, but here they are – wings!

Wholley OUCH Batman!

Well, hey… she’s got wings and can fly away any time her heart desires.  What a cutie!  Poor thing said she was about in tears as they were doin’ it.  I can only imagine.

Oh, and it’s not done… they still have to FILL THEM IN!  Wholley Molley.

Gutsy little one she is!

On to some fun I had today!

I open the door to find a “singing balloon” held by a man with a vase of flowers.

I was giggling while trying to sign my name, ’cause the baloon was really SINGING!

It was playing the theme song to “Friends” – I’ll be there for you!

I smiled to him and giggled a bit more and asked him (duh!) – is that balloon singin’?  He kinda nodded and handed it to me quickly.  Seems that must have been mortifying for him.

For me, I just giggled and brought it inside tapping the balloon over and over again.

He does this… just buys me flowers.

Ahhh…. what a sweetie!

Here they are!

Even Indy was impressed!

Oh, there’s new news on my Search and Rescue Training!  Indy and I are starting again in October.  Indy has had “Pano” for a few months pretty bad – so I need to go through the visitor thing again, then get a sponsor again… we were close before!  I’m totally excited!

K, Nuff of my update.

Stephen’s very tired and dizzy…. we go to his doctor tomorrow to check on him.  Meds Meds Meds…. argh.

Love and Light,

Monica

My Life Purpose and Upcoming Excitement!

I’ve had many “dreams” or “pulls” in my life ~ always towards a life purpose. I have children, one purpose in my life was obviously to be a momma to 3 and a step mom to one. Another purpose was to take Daniel as my husband, there was plenty of Universal Guidance at play with that one (believe me!).

So why have I felt like I haven’t done what I’m supposed to be doing in another aspect of my life?

I’m an accountant and small business adviser. I’m even a database gal too! I own my own business. But does being in that career give me a purpose? No. Sadly, no.

No one is going to be all the better in their “life” if I do their books, banking, or database. They may be able to go home at night without worrying about tasks, but does it contribute to their welfare? Nope. Again, sadly, no.

So what’s missing? I have a huge VOID in my life. I’ll explain a bit of Monica 101 to you.

1) Graduating from High School I was signed up for a 7 year agreement with the Air Force. My scores were high, and I could choose certain career paths. I chose a Security K9 Specialist. That would have meant, (as long as it held), I would get a dog and train for anything… bombs, narcotics, firearms… etc. I was SO completely excited as my date to leave approached. Sadly, again… something happened to get me OUT of the military. I won’t go too much into it, but suffice it to say when I could actually enter – I was 7 weeks pregnant. Doh!

2) After having babies and such I began a massive amount of applications, ride-alongs, testing for Police departments. By that time my brother was an officer, and the two of us would have just been in the same career. Hey, that was right down the same alley and perhaps I could go into investigations for a city or K9 unit! Obviously, that wasn’t the way the Universe decided I should go so a certain issue came up and OUT of that I was.

3) … the here and now – investigating into SAR K9. This is search and rescue K9 team. Completely volunteer!

I’m at #3 now. I’ve contacted the local CARDA chapter and one of the trainers contacted me back and took time with me explaining the different disciplines. The work of being a volunteer Search and Rescue team is quite tough, and the trainings are 2x a week with you and your dog. Not to mention the certifications that are required of course. Red Cross certs, First Responder 80 hour training + ALOT MORE! It takes about 2 years for you and your dog to be “Mission Ready”. It’s a serious commitment to be sure and one I don’t take lightly.

I cannot tell you how completely excited I am about reaching towards this venture and perhaps life long endeavor. I’m going on Sunday with them to a training in the hills and brush nearby. I’ll be bringing my hiking boots, backpack and ever curious mind. I am so completely EXCITED!

I had contacted this group about 7 years or so ago and realized at that time that being a single momma and getting called out for a search in the middle of the night (you KNOW that’s when they happen. ;) ) I’d have an issue with the kids. So I decided with the guidance from the team member that waiting until they were older would be a much better position to be in.

So here I am. Researching everything I possibly can regarding what type of searches I need to be trained for. Happy that my car can get me to Longitude and Latitude coordinates, ’cause that’s how they give out locations for trainings… LOL Phew.

Excitement aside ~ I have been asked for years why this is something I’ve wanted to do. I mean being in the Wilderness perhaps, or at a recent disaster, searching for folks in need – yes Dead or alive by the way. Many friends and family have always asked “why would you do that?”. I have searched for the words to explain and I guess it boils down to ~

because the ones that are lost, whether they are dead or alive deserve to be found. I’d like to add to the number of folks trained to find them and perhaps give just a bit more of a chance to be found.

They and their families deserve it.

For me it would be a privilege to serve others in this way.

As for the dog, they know of breeders for GSDs (German Shepards) which is the breed I’m most interested for this. Although, I keep looking at Sammy and his nose of doom (seriously you cannot hide from this dog!) wondering if it wouldn’t be an idea to see what he’s capable of. Who knows, I’m not at that point yet.

I’ll blog on how it went and if I could keep up!

Love and Light to you and yours,

Monica

… to slow down time …

Yuppers!  Ever feel like you are on auto-pilot and things sometimes just ZOOM by?  I did, up until oh… last summer I think.  It still happens if I’m not paying attention, but I have to say – last year I paid attention.  Quite costly not to.

Time had me by the hair it seemed.  I didn’t want to blink and have it all gone…. so I take the time to notice my life and those in it.  Like YOU for instance.  I actually have blog friends.  And ya’ll are wonderful!  I just can’t get enough.

So 2008 I welcome you with open arms.

To my blog friends out there, thank you.  Thank you for being in my life even if it’s reading about things and not sharing them over a coffee house table with an Iced Chai in hand.  Still feels like it when I read your posts and enjoy what you all have to say.

Thank you… you are all the best.  This also goes out to my lurkers out there.  You are appreciated too ya know.  ;)

Love and Beautiful Renewing Light,

Monica

38 Things About Me

Hi there!  I took a “tag” of sorts from Titania over at Finding Life’s Enchantments 38 Things About Me.  I’ve never been tagged for a meme and thought it would be interesting.  Well, interesting to do… not necessarily to read.  LOL  Hope you get some info…

1. Name one person who made you laugh last night?
My husband and kids when we were talking about my eyes burning… not sure why that was funny, but they sure made me giggle.

2. What were you doing at 0800?

Today at 0800 I was sitting in the waiting room while my son was in at the doctors.  I was reading something about gangs and violence in the US in one of the magizines they throw on a table there.  There are over 700,000 members of gangs in the US.  I had no idea…

3. What were you doing 30 minutes ago?

Cancelling our arrangements to stay somewhere else other than our poor house.  We were told to vacate ’cause of the water damage and the machinery (er, sounds like an airplane is in our house getting ready to take off… “what? I can’t hear you!”).  However, the kids had mini panic attacks at the thought of staying nights in a local motel and having to leave our dog here by his little lonesome!  So here we stay… “what?  did you say something?  I can’t hear you!”

4. What happened to you in 2006?
I got married to Daniel whom I’ve known for about 17 years.  We’ve dated, er… or seen eachother on and off for um… (counting on fingers) well, since 11/2004 I suppose.  Married 5/2006.  I had been with him on dates and such when me and my ex broke up in 2002 and 2003 and prior to that… but when I was with my boyfriend we didn’t see eachother ofcourse… I’m very committed in my relationships. ;)

5. What was the last thing you said out loud?
“Sammy honey, you okay?”  My black lab is trying to find somehwere the house to lay down that won’t blow his fur off.  (huge fans and dehumidifiers)

6. How many beverages did you have today?
Two – water and my latte… OH I need to make some coffee!

7. What colour is your hairbrush?
Which one?  Let’s see… black handle and bristles with copper kinda to assist in drying, pink with white bristles, larger ones, smaller ones… all pink/blue/black, round ones flat ones

8. What was the last thing you paid for?
Mortgage!  Whooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

9. Where were you last night?
Driving around with my kids and hubby trying to find somewhere to sleep.  We came back home… ;)   No vacancies out here?  That’s nearly impossible we are in farmer’s country!

10. What colour is your front door?

RED!  Oh I’ve always wanted a red door.

11. Where do you keep your change?
Er, bottom of my purse, huge empty water jug, misc cans or glasses… I really should turn it all in ya know

12. What’s the weather like today?
Absolutely beautiful, clear skies and 70s

13. What’s the best ice-cream flavour?
Being an ex Baskin Robbins employee (yes, teen years!) I have to say I loooooooove Peanut Butter and Chocolate and that’s tied with Chocolate Fudge

14. What excites you?
Nature.  Seriously… trees, moss, dirt, sky, clouds, rain… you name it.  And… my hubby :)

15. Do you want to cut your hair?
Nope, nada… no way.  I cut mine short a while back.  My daughter was very clear in saying “but momma, you never like it short”.  I didn’t listen and cut it.  Thankfully, it’s growing… ::sigh:: the things we do.

16. Are you over the age of 25?
Oh yes… you betcha.  40 in February.  Whooot!

17. Do you talk a lot?
Um, heck ya!  ;)   With long periods of silence as well just to throw folks off… “oh she’s sure quite… wait, maybe not…”

18. Do you watch the O.C.?
Not sure what that means… overly cautious, outwardly cookoo?  I think you mean the TV show.  I don’t watch TV.  ;)

19. Do you know anyone named Steven?

My 15 year old – Stephen.  As for the name precisely “Steven” well, yes… I had a friend in training named Steven.

20. Do you make up your own words?
snookiepup snickerlicious

21. Are you a jealous person?
I see the word “jealous” as meaning that you want something someone else has.  With that definition… nope.

22. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘A’
Audra – Haven’t seen her since I was in my early 20s.

23. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘K’

29. Who’s the rudest person in your life?
Trouble is… the person probably doesn’t know how rude or mean she is.  I’d rather not say… but she is quite hurtful.   I just send love and light and get over it.

30. What was the last thing you ate?
Last night, chinese food.

31. Will you get married in the future?

36. Did you cry today?

Nada

37. Why did you answer and post this?
Titania was curious so… thought I’d satisfy that a bit.  :)

Singing in Public (Volunteering!)

So I do random acts of kindness and donate to charity often.  It’s simply something that feels good to me.

But to volunteer and directly involve myself face to face has always been a bit um… well, scary.  I did write a little while back of my first experience volunteering in a shelter’s kitchen.  See HERE for that entry.

However, in the last few months I’ve been working on learning how to contribute to the human race.  :)

So…. my best friend and I were in Utah this past week and signed up to assist at a men’s rescue home to assist in serving their dinner meal.  We drove up, parked and went in not knowing exactly what to expect but we were really excited!  Or nervous and we viewed it as excitement (that’s how I choose to see it!).

So, there we were sitting during their service time (it’s a Christian based rescue home I believe) and as we were waiting to be called on to assist with dinner something quite amazing occured.

The preacher (not sure of his title or name) came to her and I and asked if we could please fill in for those that could not be there (the piano player was ill and the singer was working with family).  We smiled and said ofcourse, what can we do?

Here’s the kicker!  He asked us to sing Amazing Grace in front of the men awaiting their service.  WOW!  We said ofcourse we would (just went with the urge to assist) and we stood up on the stage in front of those that were there and sang our hearts out!

Oh my goodness!  It was the most awesome feeling!  WOW!

My site does not state my religious belief for a reason so this in no way is stating what it is.  However, when we sing I believe our heart opens up!  And that song, no matter what you believe is a very very touching song.  It comes from your light… at least that’s my opinion.

To be able to sing for them and to look at each one’s face as I sang gave me the most wonderful feeling I cannot even explain it.

Um, by the way…. I do NOT sing for a living, so it certainly was simply from the heart.  ;)

We then got to serve them dinner and the feeling we had as we danced and sung in the kitchen was no less than awesome.

Ahhh…. to actually open your eyes to those around you and see them for who they truly are.  Niiiiiiice.

Happy and whole,

Mon

My Best Friend is Getting Married

I was asked to be the photographer… WOW no stress!  LOL  But I am willingly doing this because to give my beautiful friend the photos of how I see her… that is an amazing opportunity.

I love you Dawn… I’m excited for you and Lang.  :)

Impact Trainings – Teen Summit

309060222_70aef1c23b_m.jpgStephen’s back from his 2nd training at Impact Trainings in Utah.  He came home energized and really excited about what he learned and the group he left.  From what he said it was a sad goodbye because they all got so close in the trainings.

He was one of 9 kids that got to speak at their graduation out of 92 kids.  I’m really proud of him.  He’s come along way in just the six days of training he’s had.  He used to be quite withdrawn and now he’s looking forward to potentially assisting in training another group there.  He does have another training called Lift Off coming up in May and that will be the last one.

My other son Jimmy went to the first one, but we couldn’t get him out of school to go to the second training.  Maybe the next Summit training he’ll be able to go to.

Daniel and I are going in May to the adult version of the courses.  I’ll let you know how I do.  ;)

Love and Light,

Monica
