My Company – Zy Consulting

So, I’ve been workin’ on my company’s website AND location this past few days.

First, my website:  www.zyconsulting.com let me know what you think!  I’m going to start networking, joining the chamber of commerce, advertising etc. and I thought I’d better have a website!  It’s a company site runnin’ on Wordpress.  Hey, it works!

So, next is another super UBER excitement – I am leasing an office for my company!  No more home office for me. My husband and I shared an office in a local city until I had a seizure and they took my license.  argh – but I’ve been driving now since February and no issues, so it’s time to move into my own office and look professional.  :)

Meanwhile, I got the lease tonight and read through – ’cause that’s what I do.  I read legal docs… I’m an accountant, what can I say?

Low and behold, on line 12 -

I emailed back and said I would look at it in the morning, but that #12 caught my eye and gave me a good laugh.  ;)

Herumph.

The landlord is actually leasing me an office in his own building.  They are a mortgage firm and well, they have an extra office.  He’s a kick.  Great sense of humor as you can see!

If you do check out my company’s site let me know what you think!

Going To Japan

I’m not going to Japan, but my mother-in-law is.  She’s originally from Japan and since her hubby past away last October, her next step in her life is to go back home.  We had a family get together to say our goodbyes.  Very difficult.  My poor hubby is feeling like he lost his dad and now his mother.  We are planning trips to Japan, so we are in hopes to see her this summer.

She’s really a wonderful lady, very sweet and kind to those she cares for.  She took care of her husband night and day through his cancer.  Very strong lady.  I admire her and love her.

Some little candid shots of the day:

First, it was such a nice day the frogs in the backyard were having a GREAT time.

Froggies Hangin'

The drive always leads us through Vasco Road.  Cows, barns, nice green colors and a little bit of US pride (painted immediately after 9/11 by a local).

Vasco Road Barn

The party was full of family – here’s the girls!  I’m the second from the left… L-R Felicia (my sister!), Moi, June (my momma in law), and Sidonia (D’s brother’s better half – hee hee).

The Girls

Um, Sidonia is a WIZ at the margaritas!  Although I don’t drink at any other time, anything she creates is a yummy experience.  Oh, btw I can only have one I’m quite the light weight.

Drinkin' It Up

Little bit of an issue – D’s brother had a bit of a fender bender on his way over.  Ouch!

Ouch

We own the townhouse his momma has been staying in, here’s the outside with all of the garages… I’ve been thinking we should live there after the kids graduate.  He really doesn’t wanna.  He says he deserves an 8 car garage.  So, I guess I deserve my forest in the backyard!  Not sure where that’ll take us!

My family as we were leaving – I can’t seem to stop getting all teary eyed… I just love her so much.  L-R Back Row – My son Jimmy, My hubby, Moi, my son Stephen.  Front L-R my son Daniel J and my Mother In Law – June

My Family

We love you June… and are going to miss you terribly when you are gone.  It just gives us an excuse to go see Japan!

38 Things About Me

Hi there!  I took a “tag” of sorts from Titania over at Finding Life’s Enchantments 38 Things About Me.  I’ve never been tagged for a meme and thought it would be interesting.  Well, interesting to do… not necessarily to read.  LOL  Hope you get some info…

1. Name one person who made you laugh last night?
My husband and kids when we were talking about my eyes burning… not sure why that was funny, but they sure made me giggle.

2. What were you doing at 0800?

Today at 0800 I was sitting in the waiting room while my son was in at the doctors.  I was reading something about gangs and violence in the US in one of the magizines they throw on a table there.  There are over 700,000 members of gangs in the US.  I had no idea…

3. What were you doing 30 minutes ago?

Cancelling our arrangements to stay somewhere else other than our poor house.  We were told to vacate ’cause of the water damage and the machinery (er, sounds like an airplane is in our house getting ready to take off… “what? I can’t hear you!”).  However, the kids had mini panic attacks at the thought of staying nights in a local motel and having to leave our dog here by his little lonesome!  So here we stay… “what?  did you say something?  I can’t hear you!”

4. What happened to you in 2006?
I got married to Daniel whom I’ve known for about 17 years.  We’ve dated, er… or seen eachother on and off for um… (counting on fingers) well, since 11/2004 I suppose.  Married 5/2006.  I had been with him on dates and such when me and my ex broke up in 2002 and 2003 and prior to that… but when I was with my boyfriend we didn’t see eachother ofcourse… I’m very committed in my relationships. ;)

5. What was the last thing you said out loud?
“Sammy honey, you okay?”  My black lab is trying to find somehwere the house to lay down that won’t blow his fur off.  (huge fans and dehumidifiers)

6. How many beverages did you have today?
Two – water and my latte… OH I need to make some coffee!

7. What colour is your hairbrush?
Which one?  Let’s see… black handle and bristles with copper kinda to assist in drying, pink with white bristles, larger ones, smaller ones… all pink/blue/black, round ones flat ones

8. What was the last thing you paid for?
Mortgage!  Whooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

9. Where were you last night?
Driving around with my kids and hubby trying to find somewhere to sleep.  We came back home… ;)   No vacancies out here?  That’s nearly impossible we are in farmer’s country!

10. What colour is your front door?

RED!  Oh I’ve always wanted a red door.

11. Where do you keep your change?
Er, bottom of my purse, huge empty water jug, misc cans or glasses… I really should turn it all in ya know

12. What’s the weather like today?
Absolutely beautiful, clear skies and 70s

13. What’s the best ice-cream flavour?
Being an ex Baskin Robbins employee (yes, teen years!) I have to say I loooooooove Peanut Butter and Chocolate and that’s tied with Chocolate Fudge

14. What excites you?
Nature.  Seriously… trees, moss, dirt, sky, clouds, rain… you name it.  And… my hubby :)

15. Do you want to cut your hair?
Nope, nada… no way.  I cut mine short a while back.  My daughter was very clear in saying “but momma, you never like it short”.  I didn’t listen and cut it.  Thankfully, it’s growing… ::sigh:: the things we do.

16. Are you over the age of 25?
Oh yes… you betcha.  40 in February.  Whooot!

17. Do you talk a lot?
Um, heck ya!  ;)   With long periods of silence as well just to throw folks off… “oh she’s sure quite… wait, maybe not…”

18. Do you watch the O.C.?
Not sure what that means… overly cautious, outwardly cookoo?  I think you mean the TV show.  I don’t watch TV.  ;)

19. Do you know anyone named Steven?

My 15 year old – Stephen.  As for the name precisely “Steven” well, yes… I had a friend in training named Steven.

20. Do you make up your own words?
snookiepup snickerlicious

21. Are you a jealous person?
I see the word “jealous” as meaning that you want something someone else has.  With that definition… nope.

22. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘A’
Audra – Haven’t seen her since I was in my early 20s.

23. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘K’

29. Who’s the rudest person in your life?
Trouble is… the person probably doesn’t know how rude or mean she is.  I’d rather not say… but she is quite hurtful.   I just send love and light and get over it.

36. Did you cry today?

Nada

37. Why did you answer and post this?
Titania was curious so… thought I’d satisfy that a bit.  :)

No More Driving For Awhile

I had a seizure yesterday.  A doozy really and now I am no longer allowed to drive, at least three months.

I’ve had seizures for years, but not this bad for about 10 years.  So, at home mom now and luckilly I have a client that I can keep from home.

Much love and light,

Monica (the resident shut in)

Dreams

2005 Mustang GT
Happily updated by: monicaford.

I had a dream one time of this car. I ordered the Mustang exactly as I wanted it in 2004. I received it 6 months later in April of 2005.

The car right now has 8100 miles on it. I don’t drive her much, but when I do it’s an adrenaline rush to say the least. For me, this is my "feel good car".

So when I was thinking of trading it in for the Lexus I got a bit emotional. Makes no sense to spend so much. I’m not rich. Not dumb.

I’m keeping my Mustang GT and all the thrills that go with it.

Sometimes the dreams that are right in your garage and home are the best. ;)

Monica (NOT a Lexus owner – yet. Maybe in a FEW years. LOL)

Wait, It’s Too Quiet

I’m sitting here contemplating why I feel so weird.  Really weird!  And I start to realize it’s flipping quiet in this house other than my Sammy Dog (Black/Chocolate Lab Mutt) chewing on his nyla-bone (er however you write that goofy word).  A bone okay?  He’s chewing on a bone and it’s driving me nuts because there is NO OTHER NOISE IN THE HOUSE!

Excuse me.

Ahem.

Sorry to lose a bit of control there, but there isn’t any noise other than Sammy’s relentless chewing and my husband talking about buying the BMW across the street for the boys.

So, what’s missing…..

That sweet sound of "Oh Yeah Right" or "Oh Wow!  Come On" or "Lost the Lead" or "Flag Taken" (name that video game) or the laughter of MY SONS!

Yup, they are gone.  We dropped them off tonight at my best friend Dawn’s.  They aren’t coming back until Sunday night.  Why you ask?

They went to Utah.

What’s in Utah you ask?

Well, besides the Church of Latter Day Saints, there is a reason they are going.  But I’m gonna hold off on explaining that until the little guys get home.  ;)

None the less……… my boys are not going to be yelling and screaming here for a few nights.

::sigh::

I miss my babies.

G’Night.  I’m gonna go outside with Sammy and look at the stars for awhile.

Much love,

Mon

Today – Tuesday – Tomorrow – Wednesday

Just in case you were wondering if I knew what day it was.  I do.  ;)

Today was quite windy.  I was parked at Starbucks a place that sells nutritious stuff, and was waiting for my son Jimmy to go in and get my Venti Iced Chai Latte nutritious thing, and while I was waiting I could have sworn I was being rocked to sleep.  Wasn’t sure at the moment what the issue was, and then it dawned on me duh! the wind!  It was literally rocking the van I was in, AND the other cars in the lot.  Strange sensation.

It felt almost like when you first step on an escalator, when you try to adjust to the movement and have that moment of inbalance.

I live in California and the only thing that rocks us here are the earthquakes.  Earthquakes, small ones, are actually kinda fun.  Yes, I know… strange.  As long as nothing is falling on your head it really is an interesting feeling to have the earth suddenly move you.  We take the ground we walk on for granted.

Everyone from California has an earthquake story.  If not, they are only passerbys.  Having lived here for almost 40 years (holey crap!) then I can say I’ve been through many of them.  The 1989 one was a big one for me because my 6 month old baby was at a babysitters hours away (traffic was stopped so a normal 1/2 hour drive turned into much longer) and there was no phone connection.  I remember the news first reports that the SF Bay Bridge had collapsed.  Entirely.  It didn’t, but a good size chunk did.  Not to mention all the other hell that happened after.

See?  Get a Californian started… there it goes.

But wind?

Here’s my question for those that deal with Tornados.  Um, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

That is precisely the question I get from those outside of California about the earthquakes.  So I do understand.  But wow!  And hurricanes… and all other horrific weather emergencies.

I’d be the idiot running out taking pictures of the "oh look at the pretty sky" before the twister.

By the way, my most favorite movie in the whole wide world is Twister.  Just a funky fact.

Vasco Windmills

Vasco Windmills
Happily updated by: monicaford.

This is one of the scenes from my drive home every day. Interesting but strange I suppose.

These are absolutely huge.  At night there are flashing red lights on the tip of every few of them.  We are quite close to a small airport.

Ofcourse you have your activists that complain about most everything.  Good reasons I’m sure for most.  I’m not sure how I feel about the ones that are complaining about these windmills.  You see, there are birds that don’t see them and run into them.  Thereby killing the bird.  So, they’ve had their share of complaints about them.

My question is, who thought of that anyway?  Did an injured bird call and report the menace?

:: sigh ::

Actually, I do care about the birdies.  So I suppose I’ll let those complaining complain.  But for a commuter that gets to sit in traffic in this area without budgeing for a bit… I can honestly say I roll down my windows and listen to the sound of those 3 story high (?) windmills hum and it’s quite soothing.

;)

Maybe if they just posted warning signs to the birds?  I dunno….

Car Troubles, or the people that drive them.

So today I was at the bank depositing for my client.  In front of me is a not so happy young lady.  She leaves and I do my teller business.

As I proceed to walk out the door I notice she’s backing up WAY too fast, and happens to be directly behind my van.  Which, by the way, has my baby in it… 14, but still my baby.

She hits the van.  That was inevitable at the speed she was going.  I see my son’s head go forward and then back again.  I look to her to see her reaction, and well… the reaction is DRIVE AWAY FAST.

:: growl ::

So, I proceed to run out and jump in front of her car.  (yeah, I know… g r e a t thinking momma) and tell her she’s not going anywhere as she just hit my car with my child in it.  I told her to back it up and park.  She does.

As I walk to the van to see if the van and my kid are okay… she bolts.

:: sigh ::

So, I bolt after her.

I got the license plate (she swerved away a bit as if to try to evade the license plat snag).

I told the police officer that happens to park in the lot a few mins after what happened and gave him her license plate number.

After all that my little guy is totally fine… shaken up as he says, and the van is just fine.

But, to pull away from a situation like that when you know you hit a car with a person, a child, in the car. – what’s up with that?!

So… after all of that I figure she’s had a worse day then me and I left it be.

I should get some good karma for that at least.
