Flowers, Tattoos and Dogs

What a mix!

This weekend I had my daughter and her boyfriend come to visit.  They brought Tattoos.  They just got them done!

Here’s Joseph’s tattoo (it’s his last name)

My darling 19 year old daughter was told getting a tattoo wouldn’t really hurt on the top of your foot.  She begs to differ, but here they are – wings!

Wholley OUCH Batman!

Well, hey… she’s got wings and can fly away any time her heart desires.  What a cutie!  Poor thing said she was about in tears as they were doin’ it.  I can only imagine.

Oh, and it’s not done… they still have to FILL THEM IN!  Wholley Molley.

Gutsy little one she is!

On to some fun I had today!

I open the door to find a “singing balloon” held by a man with a vase of flowers.

I was giggling while trying to sign my name, ’cause the baloon was really SINGING!

It was playing the theme song to “Friends” – I’ll be there for you!

I smiled to him and giggled a bit more and asked him (duh!) – is that balloon singin’?  He kinda nodded and handed it to me quickly.  Seems that must have been mortifying for him.

For me, I just giggled and brought it inside tapping the balloon over and over again.

He does this… just buys me flowers.

Ahhh…. what a sweetie!

Here they are!

Even Indy was impressed!

Oh, there’s new news on my Search and Rescue Training!  Indy and I are starting again in October.  Indy has had “Pano” for a few months pretty bad – so I need to go through the visitor thing again, then get a sponsor again… we were close before!  I’m totally excited!

K, Nuff of my update.

Stephen’s very tired and dizzy…. we go to his doctor tomorrow to check on him.  Meds Meds Meds…. argh.

Love and Light,

Monica

Happily updated by: monicaford.

Here’s my Search and Rescue partner! He’s getting so big! He’s in at 51lbs last week and is so derned smart! :)

We are at training tomorrow morning again, he’s doing very well.

Mon

Seems to be Wet in Here!

The past few days has been made up of me moving dogs.  What does that mean?  Well, although some folks say to "just put them together!" – I’m 100% with the breeder who says "Keep them separate until they get a bit bored with eachother".  Kinda like – oh yeah, there’s another fuzzy dude here – but that’s not new.  That’s what we have been doing.  Sam is my older dog, 3 years old Black Lab/Great Dane mix (we think), and he’s doing just fine with having Indy here.  Curious, but keeps his distance and is listening to me very well.  Indy isn’t so interested, afterall he’s been around dogs since birth.  So, calm around the house with these two.  Nice.

What that means is, shuffling dogs when one has to go out or the other comes in or it’s feeding time for either.  I’m officially a dog shuffler.

When the time’s right we’ll get the two out on leashes and walk them around the park and just get them used to closer quarters.  :)

No new pics of the kid – why?  Well…. I took the camera out in the backyard to get the little guy doing what he enjoys (sniffing around and rolling on the grass) when low and behold he finds water.  Hmmmm.  LOTS of water!  Oh he was so happy!  Splashing around, laying in it, playing with it.  Mind you, we don’t have a pool.  So where did all of the water on the side of the house come from?  The neighbors accidently turned the hose on to max instead of off.  SO – a flooding we go.  :)   All to Indy’s excitement.  No camera at that moment as I was trying to figure out if we had sprung a leak somewhere!  AND trying to be sure my pup wasn’t gonna drown himself… well, ofcourse not, but WOW he’s dirty now.

We’ll have our first bath tonight.  Right now he’s worn out snoozing again.

Current dog setup – Indy is in my office in the HUGE crate with toys galore chewing on a knuckle bone and then dozing – Sammy is right outside the office laying on his bed.

All is calm…

… and wet.

Anniversary and Indy and SAR – oh my!

Indy is coming! Indy is coming!

No no no, not that Indy!

This one!

German Shephard Puppy

I have to wait about a week and 1/2 for him, and he’s 15 weeks old as of this friday! He is so absolutely perfect!

His is called Blue Boy, or Brock by the breeder (who is absolutely awesome! in my humblest opinion!) but we are renaming the little guy to Indiana Jones or Indy for short. Not just because of the movie (although that played a part!) but Indiana Jones always manages to find what he is looking for, no matter what. What better name for a SAR (search and rescue) dog?!

I’m in my 4th week of "guest" status right now and I have to say the group is awesome! I know the link to the page didn’t work before, but here’s some info that I know of about what I’m going to be doing.

I do have to get a TON of training. CPR, First Responder courses (8 weeks worth I believe), Wilderness first responder, fitness / agility training for me and I need it! Not to mention, how do you read those Topographical maps?! Gotta take a course in navigating.

The area I’ve chosen is Air Scent Area Dog. There is also trailing and many forms within each. Here are some links:

Anyway, gotta go to dinner… :)

It’s our 2 year wedding anniversary!

Whoot!

Love and Light, Mon

What’s New Magoo?

I’ve been to two trainings so far as a guest for the search and rescue team. I go to my third this weekend.

Being out in the wilderness “local wilderness” has been awesome.

So, time to get my dog – my partner in searching. I’ve been talking to breeders which is a whole new deal for me. But very interesting!

Looks like it’s definitely a German Shepherd as I had one growing up and I admire their working ethic. ;) AND they have an awesome prey drive.

Looking for a new truck too. Although don’t want a new one. I was thinking an older Toyota 4Runner. ;)

So, wanted to check in… I’m gonna be dancing through my buddies blogs within the next few days ’cause I miss ya all!

Hugs, and love and light,

Monica

My Life Purpose and Upcoming Excitement!

I’ve had many “dreams” or “pulls” in my life ~ always towards a life purpose. I have children, one purpose in my life was obviously to be a momma to 3 and a step mom to one. Another purpose was to take Daniel as my husband, there was plenty of Universal Guidance at play with that one (believe me!).

So why have I felt like I haven’t done what I’m supposed to be doing in another aspect of my life?

I’m an accountant and small business adviser. I’m even a database gal too! I own my own business. But does being in that career give me a purpose? No. Sadly, no.

No one is going to be all the better in their “life” if I do their books, banking, or database. They may be able to go home at night without worrying about tasks, but does it contribute to their welfare? Nope. Again, sadly, no.

So what’s missing? I have a huge VOID in my life. I’ll explain a bit of Monica 101 to you.

1) Graduating from High School I was signed up for a 7 year agreement with the Air Force. My scores were high, and I could choose certain career paths. I chose a Security K9 Specialist. That would have meant, (as long as it held), I would get a dog and train for anything… bombs, narcotics, firearms… etc. I was SO completely excited as my date to leave approached. Sadly, again… something happened to get me OUT of the military. I won’t go too much into it, but suffice it to say when I could actually enter – I was 7 weeks pregnant. Doh!

2) After having babies and such I began a massive amount of applications, ride-alongs, testing for Police departments. By that time my brother was an officer, and the two of us would have just been in the same career. Hey, that was right down the same alley and perhaps I could go into investigations for a city or K9 unit! Obviously, that wasn’t the way the Universe decided I should go so a certain issue came up and OUT of that I was.

3) … the here and now – investigating into SAR K9. This is search and rescue K9 team. Completely volunteer!

I’m at #3 now. I’ve contacted the local CARDA chapter and one of the trainers contacted me back and took time with me explaining the different disciplines. The work of being a volunteer Search and Rescue team is quite tough, and the trainings are 2x a week with you and your dog. Not to mention the certifications that are required of course. Red Cross certs, First Responder 80 hour training + ALOT MORE! It takes about 2 years for you and your dog to be “Mission Ready”. It’s a serious commitment to be sure and one I don’t take lightly.

I cannot tell you how completely excited I am about reaching towards this venture and perhaps life long endeavor. I’m going on Sunday with them to a training in the hills and brush nearby. I’ll be bringing my hiking boots, backpack and ever curious mind. I am so completely EXCITED!

I had contacted this group about 7 years or so ago and realized at that time that being a single momma and getting called out for a search in the middle of the night (you KNOW that’s when they happen. ;) ) I’d have an issue with the kids. So I decided with the guidance from the team member that waiting until they were older would be a much better position to be in.

So here I am. Researching everything I possibly can regarding what type of searches I need to be trained for. Happy that my car can get me to Longitude and Latitude coordinates, ’cause that’s how they give out locations for trainings… LOL Phew.

Excitement aside ~ I have been asked for years why this is something I’ve wanted to do. I mean being in the Wilderness perhaps, or at a recent disaster, searching for folks in need – yes Dead or alive by the way. Many friends and family have always asked “why would you do that?”. I have searched for the words to explain and I guess it boils down to ~

because the ones that are lost, whether they are dead or alive deserve to be found. I’d like to add to the number of folks trained to find them and perhaps give just a bit more of a chance to be found.

They and their families deserve it.

For me it would be a privilege to serve others in this way.

As for the dog, they know of breeders for GSDs (German Shepards) which is the breed I’m most interested for this. Although, I keep looking at Sammy and his nose of doom (seriously you cannot hide from this dog!) wondering if it wouldn’t be an idea to see what he’s capable of. Who knows, I’m not at that point yet.

I’ll blog on how it went and if I could keep up!

Love and Light to you and yours,

Monica

Warning Received – Movie The Golden Compass

(… seems alot of folks are worked up over this so let me just say right here and now – I’m not telling you to see the movie, I’m not telling you not to see the movie, I’m not suggesting you see the movie, I’m not suggesting you NOT see the movie… heck, I’m not even suggesting you read my post!  ;)   Love and beautiful Light.  You are loved.)

I’m not sure I understand this, but I received a warning in email to not allow my children to see this movie.  It’s called the Golden Compass.  I know -0- about the movie, and have no personal opinion although now my interest is peaked since I was warned by someone I know quite well.  I must have been part of a large emailing list ’cause I’m not the kind to listen to a warning to not see something.  That usually means it makes it to my *must see*.  (Okay, I have a smidge of rebel in me).

I went to the website and looked at the trailer.  Interestingly enough, there are witches in this and I wondered if that was it.  The person who sent this is very religious.  Could that be why?  If so… Disney has witches.  I don’t understand.  Then I looked closer and found that in this movie they believe a person’s soul is in the outside of their body.  It inhabits something called a Daemon pronounced (DEE-mon).  Maybe ’cause it’s named Daemon it’s contriversial?   An animal with qualities like yourself.  In example if your Daemon is a dog you are one to follow authority (this is what is given on the site).

Still, I have no opinion.  I do not state my religious preferences on this blog for a reason.  Everyone is welcome here, no matter what race, religion etc. etc. etc.  Because the opinion I do share with you is that we are all one.  That I will make known.

So I’m going to research this movie/story because I’m curious to see why it would stir such a vividly explicit almost panicked response of my friend.

Meanwhile I played on the site and found that I too have a Daemon and his name is Laefe.  Handsome fellow really.  Tell me what you think?

Has anyone heard of any kind of reason folks wouldn’t want people to see this movie?  I’m going to research to see.  I do remember folks getting very upset at Harry Potter and The Ring.  Same issues perhaps?

See the trailer here on my site. I purposely didn’t place it on this page as it takes just a bit to load and I don’t want to hang folks up. Beware, they have it to set to play immediately. But very interesting.

38 Things About Me

Hi there!  I took a “tag” of sorts from Titania over at Finding Life’s Enchantments 38 Things About Me.  I’ve never been tagged for a meme and thought it would be interesting.  Well, interesting to do… not necessarily to read.  LOL  Hope you get some info…

1. Name one person who made you laugh last night?
My husband and kids when we were talking about my eyes burning… not sure why that was funny, but they sure made me giggle.

2. What were you doing at 0800?

Today at 0800 I was sitting in the waiting room while my son was in at the doctors.  I was reading something about gangs and violence in the US in one of the magizines they throw on a table there.  There are over 700,000 members of gangs in the US.  I had no idea…

3. What were you doing 30 minutes ago?

Cancelling our arrangements to stay somewhere else other than our poor house.  We were told to vacate ’cause of the water damage and the machinery (er, sounds like an airplane is in our house getting ready to take off… “what? I can’t hear you!”).  However, the kids had mini panic attacks at the thought of staying nights in a local motel and having to leave our dog here by his little lonesome!  So here we stay… “what?  did you say something?  I can’t hear you!”

Thoughts In Photos

Today is a reflection day.  I found I was holding in so many feelings lately, that I about exploded.  With my father-in-law passing away, I thought I could be strong and that because I knew he was in a beautiful spiritual place now, I would feel okay.  But, it seems I’m like everyone when they lose someone close – I have a grieving period.

It’s Okay To Greive – in fact, I personally believe for your spiritual health, it’s simply a must

Someone said something that was quite hurtful, and I was very upset.  Then, I looked back on it and realized… it’s okay.  I forgive very easily because I really love so much.  To be spiteful is actually a poison to a person.  Negative energy isn’t allowed in my life, it’s diffused very quickly.  That’s all new to me and I’m learning how to do just that… ;)   Forgiveness is a beautiful and a very cleansing response to any issue really.  Or at least, I’m learning.  To that person, I simply send love and light because it’s just what they need.  Everyone deserves love.

Everyone Deserves Love

Last night I broke down alot.  I feel better today but a bit *hung over* from crying so much.

It’s Healthy To Cry

What works for me?  Taking pictures does… today it did.  Blogging does as well!  And reading blogs from all of you, well… that just puts a day into a perfect place.  Not to mention my beautiful family.

I’ll share with you my journal for today with photos and a bit of what I was thinking as I took each of them.  If it gets too boring, go play frogger on the “Fun Stuff” page!  I’m all about giggles ya know.  Fer cryin’ out loud!

:)

Here’s my photo journal for the day…

I mentioned a few posts ago that I have new grass.  Due to the puppy we got, the wires to the sprinkler system were dug up and chewed through and well… the puppy just destroyed it.  Because my husband is so truly kind and loving to me, he got us a brand new lawn… and it’s green, and it’s absolutely beautiful.  No more dirt and tufts of weeds, I have my beautiful lawn back.

That gazebo you see is another of my enjoyments.  My husband and I use the jacuzzi alot!  The top of the gazebo has a wonderful green metal roof.  The sounds of rain on the roof, the feeling of the cold air around you, and the warmth of the 102 degree gurgling jacuzzi… well, it’s just a slice of my heaven.  I’m thankful.

Ofcourse, there are frogs in them thar hills.  If you look up on the gazebo, there are three frogs in a stepping stone that I’ve hung… they are absolutely the best.

This is just one of the times I’ve looked to the sky and gotten the feeling of wonder.  When I’m in the yard, I always look up.  The sky to me is like a slideshow of random wonder.  It’s always ever changing, and never anything less than awe inspiring.  At least, if you look at it through the eyes of a child.  That, I’ve been learning to do more and more as well.  Thanks to Harold ~ he suggested to look at things like you were a child.  It’s an interesting perspective.

Our puppy.  Daniel and I have four children between the two of us.  Both of us wonder what a baby from the both of us would look like, be like… but we are not going to have a child.  After his son was born, he didn’t want another.  After I hit 30, you couldn’t have paid me to go through all of that again.  We are happy to have Sammy – the fur-child.  He doesn’t look like us, doesn’t talk… but BOY does he love us.

Since we’ve had such a tough few months, I’ve noticed something about Sammy that not every dog has… he’s highly responsive to emotions.  In example, I was crying last night and he pushed his head into my arms and just looked up at me with the compassion I would only think could be found in a human.  I’m wrong, ofcourse, but he just seemed to *know*.  He wouldn’t leave my side until I felt better.  Then he moved to the floor by me and laid down, not taking an eye off of me.

Sammy may look ferocious to our neighbors and those that have made the mistake of attempting to get into the yard ~ but his heart is of gold, and he is extremely protective.  He’s a true gift.

Just watch the teeth.  Oh, and when he stands fully erect (with the help of placing his paws on your shoulders) – he looks my husband straight in the eye.  5′10″ I believe.  ;)

As I was about done with my photo thoughts, I walked inside and looked around our house.  It feels so wonderful.  So loving.  Even the refrigerator has love on it:

These beauties are my niece Megan, and her beautiful momma Wendy.  The bear ‘o magnet is from a cruise I was lucky enough to take to Alaska in 2003.  Another bit of thankfulness.

Thank you for sharing in my thoughts for the day.  I truly wish you love and light and remember to look at things through the eyes of a child.

Love and Light,

Monica Ford
