I read all of the books.  They certainly aren’t my favorite.  I think though that the movie is entertaining though.

I have been honored to be a part of the 2,996 project. This project is for those of us with websites, and those even without – to volunteer to create a remembrance for each of the victims of 9/11. The purpose is only to share the information we have of the person(s) that has been chosen for us, and to keep the thought of them going.

I received the name – John M. Paolillo. I wrote it down and left it on my desk for a bit. I was fully ready to do this – but it did take a bit to go through the research to find out who my person was and I wanted to be sure I gave him the remembrance that he deserved.

He is – a hero, nothing short of that in my opinion.

One site in particular, one that participated in the 2,996 project in 2006 I believe – had his photo.  I can tell you, he has a smile that is infectious.  Just take a moment to look at it and know that this man has been referred to as a loving father, loving uncle, loving son and friend to many.

I got to know a lot about his life.  How he was with his neighbors and his family according to a neighbor’s blog.  I learned about him being an athlete – loving to bicycle and swim.

The best part of the remembering a man I had never met – was reading what his neighbor wrote about him.  Her fond memories of him that I simply won’t copy here on my blog without her permission.

Here’s what I can tell and what I will always remember about the man who’s name I got handed – 8 years later, I humbly read about him being a Battalion Chief with the NY Fire Dept – and a quote from him, through the words of the blog from 2006 that was part of John’s discussion with a friend who thought he hadn’t done very well at a running event:

Did you give it your all?

I’d say this hero did.  I would like to please direct you to the blog that gave me the most information from someone that was his neighbor and knows his family.  If she for ANY reason wants me to change what I’ve said, I will very quickly.

The remembrance I have of John M. Paolillo is that not only was he loving – but he obviously was profoundly loved.  To me – he is one of the heroes from that day.

John M. Paolillo – Love and Light, you are thought of today by many and even those who never got to know you until now.

2006 Remembrance of John M. Paolillo – so beautifully written and it deserves to be read again.

Please, on this day – please remember those we lost and that each of them – every one of the 2,996 victims was someone with a story and a life and dreams and hopes.  I will never forget and you can believe as long as the 2,996 project is going next year I will volunteer.

I am humbled – thank you John Paolillo.

Oh it’s been a full week.  I’m on Facebook playing FarmVille thanks to SUSAN!  LOL  Thanks honey… my cow thanks you.  oh, and my chicken and my bunny wabbit.

Yup, I’m having fun.

Washed my car, had my dad over this weekend and made a friend.  Good weekend to be sure and I’m very thankful.

Now, off to do the clothes!    The cow will have to wait…

Today started out wonderful!  I was uber excited about the kids going out and me being alone at the house.  So much to do and I thought for sure it would be fun!

Trouble started when I sent an email to someone that I probably shouldn’t have.  Or, maybe it doesn’t matter and it is okay.  I asked a pointed question – but to be frank, I’m not so sure she’ll respond honestly.  What was I thinking anyway?  Honesty isn’t what was a part of all of this.  Why would I ask for clarification from someone that wasn’t honest to begin with?  I’ve learned it’s best to go to the source when you want to know something and not assume.  So – I did.  Let’s see where that gets me.

Then – it hit.  The thinking about the last 4 years.  I’m struggling today.  It’s a rough one today.

My friend over at The Bobo Files has a post about his participation in the 2,996 Project.  Apparently it is where Bloggers (and even those that don’t have a website) get to celebrate and honor a life of one of our own that lost their life on 9/11.  I’ve just signed up and will get a name of someone I get to celebrate here on my blog on 9/11/2009.  I feel very honored to be a part of this effort.

My hopes are that anyone that reads this will volunteer and sign up here:  Project 2,996.

Another thing on my mind – our poor mountains are on fire!  It’s far enough away from me, I’m safe… but that area is so so so beautiful and folks do live there.  They are in my thoughts.

As much as I keep thinkin’ I’m going to update, it gets so late at night and then I go to sleep.  Oh so much fun.

Stephen had that surgery and each night it takes about an hour or so to do the packing I have to do to the wound.  Okay, maybe TMI – but it’s a process that we have to do to be sure he doesn’t get an infection.

Then there is marriage stuff.

Then there is other stuff – like, life and work.

No time for Mon lately.

But I’m not asleep….. oh not good

Even Indy is wondering why I’m not asleep. ARGH

This weekend was my weekend to take Daniel out to where I’d like to go.  I suppose it was a little bit of sharing who I am with him – you could say.

The first place I took him in the morning was Copper Skillet.  It’s a nice small cafe in Dublin, CA that we both like to go once in awhile.  We had a nice breakfast and then took off.  I drove and took him first to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose, CA.  This is by far one of my most favorite places being as though I’m fascinated by ancient history.  I found this museum when the children were very small and I used to take them all of the time.

After he got to look at all of the mummies and artifacts – I drove him to Big Basin in the Santa Cruz Mountains, CA.

It was a good day yesterday.
