My friend is the actual person behind sjeltur.nl, but I write stuff too for his blog every now and then. It's a very good question if it's really a crisis, or it's just portrayed that way. The thing is, given that these different periods in history last for about 20 years or so, we are only half way there in the current Crisis-era. Perhaps the past 10 years was not a Crisis like the period 1925-1945 was, but we're not there yet. I'm not saying we will have something similar like WW2 back then, but we can see already problems on the horizon: depletion of resources, authoritarianism that's creeping into governments that are democratic now, suppression of civil liberties, more and more "1984", and so on. While every Crisis is different, unfortunately human suffering and death seems to be always the same in history.
