How Hard Could It Be?

How Hard Could It Be?  Oh yeah, famous last words.  BUT – I’m actually in the midst of creating FROM SCRATCH my own WordPress template.

I know, hold the giggles.

I installed WordPress on my local machine and I’m in the design phase right now.  Then… well, then I have to cut it up into WordPress correct files… then, well… okay, there is SO much more than that.  BUT I have a trusty dusty book that I got.  I’m leaning on that quite a bit!

Okay, I have a few books that I’m using, but this one in particular has been very helpful.

Hopefully I can get this going. Don’t worry, I won’t upload the derned thingy until I know it works. ;)

Well, mostly works anyway…

  • Make sure you check out WordPress.org They are in the process of upgrading WordPress to a new version and have some additions to the old theme template.

I have designed a few themes from scratch and it is so awesome once you get it :)

    Good luck.

  • That’s funny. I’m actually working on a redesign for mine too. The only book that I have though is “WordPress for Dummies”. I understand most of it, the hardest part for me, so far, has been color scheme, header design, etc.

  • I give ya tons of credit for trying. I’ve thought of changing mine, but I’m afraid I’d mess up and lose the whole thing in the process.

If you need any help, feel free to ask!

I find designing from scratch pretty hard. I usually take a basic temple and tweak, do the graphics etc.

Zhus last blog post..Only In France…

  • @Zhu: I think I’m settling back to exactly that. Revelotion 2 is out open source now by Brian Gardner. It’s very well done… framework is good, and the changing of CSS and graphics is okay by me.

I think I’ll keep with a template like that and change it to what I’d like… I don’t really see the need to redo what so many others have perfected I suppose. I just want something that is mine though, not out of the box. THANK you for your offer of assistance!
