Spin Me a Different Kind of “Green”
Recycling is very important you know.
Really. I myself am trying to figure out what to recycle.
As companies come up with new ideas, I’m the first to take a gander. I’ve found a really neat car I want! I’ll talk about that one later.
Today, upon opening my magazine and then following the internet site address ~ I gandered this:
Not sure what this is? Here’s another angle.
It’s a couch silly willy!
A couch that was made from a casket.
Something I really didn’t think needed much recycling. I was wrong.
Well, now, mortuaries would normally throw these away because of um, cosmetic issues or… maybe they were used as a display perchance?
So, this company is making use of these so as to re-use and not waste.
According to my Sierra Club Magazine (September/October 2008 Vol 93 No 5):
(Don’t worry about the bio hazard decal the couch sports – that only means it briefly cradled a body, not that it was buried)
You know, so you understand what the decal means.
Well – Kudos to you “Coffin Couches” and here’s my link to you to promote your good deeds.
What this tells me is: Folks are taking recycling seriously.
That’s good news.

hmmm what a way to recycle eh? but yeah, great idea, although it’s a little creepy though. This would be a good Halloween couch.
I think it’s brilliant! But I wonder if it’s comfortable. Somehow the thought of having a kip in the afternoon on one of these causes me to have these weird pictures in my head
I couldn’t have that couch in my house. I have way to much of an active imagination and am really a freak about death. I would never be able to relax at home again, with that in the “living” room.
@Alex: Yeah, I thought the whole Halloween thing would be interesting. Good timing ~ it’s almost here
@Tess: I have no idea if it’s comfy…. LOL good question! Maybe they could customize or something.
@Thinkinfyou: Yeah, I don’t think you are alone in that thought.
I won’t let ‘em get ya!
I love the recyling aspect, and I think it would be cool for Halloween too like Alex mentioned. It reminds me of the show “The Munsters”. I think that they had a coffin phone booth in their home.
I’m into recycling myself. But that’s taking it too far. I wonder what would be next. =)
@Dori: Oh that’s right! I loved the Munsters! LOL I bet this will be a hit for someone…. somewhere.
I remember the coffin phone booth!
@cherry: I really really had that thought. What next? Then…. I didnt’ wanna know! LOL
I didn’t think there were a lot of coffins lying around NEEDING to be recycled. I hope to God you’re right and they just had cosmetic defect or were for display. The whole thing reminds me of an “Office” quote by Dwight about his “Casino Night” tuxedo: “It belonged to my grandfather. He was buried in it… so, family heirloom.”
Ew!
@Identity Crisis Girl: Scary isn’t it? That quote from “Office” is funny! I don’t watch it much, but what I have is funny!!
